Institutional Commitment

Akshat College of Health Education is committed to providing a place of work and study free from sexual harassment, intimidation, or exploitation. In accordance with the Supreme Court’s Vishaka Guidelines and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act (2013), the college has established this committee to safeguard the fundamental rights of women to equality and a life of dignity.

The committee serves as a specialized body to handle cases with extreme sensitivity, ensuring that the privacy of the complainant is maintained while a rigorous and fair investigation is conducted.

Scope of Harassment

Under the statutory guidelines, sexual harassment includes any one or more of the following unwelcome acts or behavior:

  • Physical contact and advances.
  • A demand or request for sexual favors.
  • Making sexually colored remarks.
  • Showing pornography or suggestive materials.
  • Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature.
  • Creating a hostile or intimidating environment through gender-based bullying.

Powers and Functions of the Committee

Inquiry & Investigation

Authorized to summon witnesses, examine evidence, and record statements in a confidential manner.

Interim Relief

Recommending temporary measures such as transfer or leave to ensure the safety of the complainant during the inquiry.

Counseling Support

Providing emotional and psychological support services to any student or staff member affected by misconduct.

The Redressal Mechanism

Akshat College follows a time-bound and fair procedure for all reported incidents:

  1. Written Complaint: Must be filed within three months of the last incident.
  2. Internal Inquiry: The committee completes the formal investigation within 90 days.
  3. Report Submission: Findings and recommendations are submitted to the Head of the Institution for final action.
  4. Strict Confidentiality: Disclosure of the identity of the complainant or the respondent is prohibited by law.
